Lawn Care Tips for a Green Lawn

Making a grass that your neighbors will envy needs time and dedication. If you follow some really general principles you'll have a green grass in virtually no time. These are some grass care tips that may get your grass in shape for BBQ season:

Cropping

* Mow the grass at a height of 2.5-4 inches.
* doesn’t set your mower too low. Cutting your grass too short will not permit your lawn's roots to grow deep.
* Cropping should be done when the grass is dry. Cropping wet grass may cause illness. * Use a quality mower with a pointed blade.
* Sharpen the mower blades before cropping or at a minimum once every 7-10 uses.
* Leave the clippings on the grass. It'll add nutrient as well will act as mulch. Watering
* Apply water to keep the soil damp.
* Soak your grass so that the water penetrates the soil. Applying water to surface makes the grass roots grow really shallow.
* Water when there's need, otherwise don't water.
* Do not over water grasslands. This could cause disease, water loss, and other problems in most grassed areas.
* Apply water in the early morning.
* don't water in the evening; this can create issues for the lawn. Fertilizing
* Use compost to boost the soil structure. You can apply compost at any point.
* Before seeding, mix compost and fertilizers in with the soil.
* In seeding, utilize slow release manure at the time of seeding. Again apply fast release manure after the seeds have sprouted.
* Use commercial manure which carries all of the 3 major plant nutrient elements - nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
* Manure rates, application time and application process varies.
* there is several manure available like organic, synthetic, inorganic, slow release, fast release and so on. Use the proper manure for your grass and area.
* Tests your soil before applying manure. Over seeding and Replacing Sod o the perfect time for over seeding is early fall.
* Critical for grassed areas which get more shade.
* Add compost while over seeding. O When replacing sod cut the affected grass out with a spade or trowel and makes a nice crisp edge before planting the new sod.
* Add manure to newly replaced area.
* After installing the sod, utilize a soil press or roll it to get contact with the soil Aerating * Aerate your grass occasionally. Typically once in the autumn and once in the spring.
* Keep checking I the soil to confirm it is ok.
* Use aeration to reduce compactness of soil and to get rid of the thatch.
* You may use mechanical and / or hand aerators. Thatching o try and thatch at least one time each year. Thatch can stunt the expansion of lawns and can forestall healthy expansion.
* Old thatch is tough to remove.
